Aaron are you the shitest cunt out? Seriously do you have a set of balls? How could you hat Woden youthie? I'm disregarding your opinion because you are a retard dude! ;D Maybe a little over the top but man, come on its a great place. No wait, who the fuck are you? Some cunt called Digby? get fucked. Let's take a look at what you wrote So you noticed that i don't like Woden Youth, that's great, you can read. I have no idea what balls have to do with anything. You are going to disregard my opinion because I'm a retard? Get fucked you bigot. Nowhere in your series of questions did you put forward a reason to say that WYC is a good venue at all. Mine is not nearly over the top enough for your stupidity. Look man, it was just a joke that my mates would get.... lighten up a tad. It's funny... but it's no reason to hate a motherfucker! (If you don't understand... BAM! au.youtube.com/watch?v=NuTjQLfU6Gk)Just to let you in on the joke.

Digby made an innocent mistake. He was being over the top, but that kind of joke would totally go well with his friends. Perhaps over the internet with strangers it doesn't really work. He's learnt his lesson, give him another chance. He really is one of the best people you can ever have a conversation with and I'm not exagerating.

Not to mention Digby is a Canberra music God. In my eyes he can say whatever he wants to whoever he wants. He's earned the right.
If you're not friends with Digby, you're not in the music scene! All hail Digby!

So im pretty sure that woden and tuggeranong are both shit venues. The fucked up thing is that Canberra has no where else to hold any dcent gigs. Unless a new venue opens, the all ages scene is fucked.

I dunno about that. Even if you do consider Canberra to have no good all ages venues, doesn't necessarily mean the all ages scene is 'fucked'. Bands can still perform, write and get better. A good venue is a luxury, but not a necessity.

I know that as a veiwer who is playing money to see a show, that i want a good venue. I want to see bands play with a good PA, not just a vocal PA. Most of the time i leave a show at Woden or Tuggers im left thinking 'wow that would of been alright if the sound wasnt fucked'.

I a bit audiophile too. Pretty much need all my mp3s encoded at 320kbps with some nice headphones. It's hard to ignore sound issues at a gig. Still, there's nothing wrong with going to a gig with the expectation that the sound may be complete shit, but you might find some music that you like. The sound quality being shit doesn't take away from the content, it just makes the whole thing a bit harder to enjoy.

Enjoying a quality PA has nothing to do with the venue. The bands should hire a good PA, mixer and speakers. The last 3 or 4 shows I've seen at Woden Youth Centre had fancy lighting (colours, strobes), quality sound (they had a PA and a mixer, you could hear the vocals clear enough to make out the words that were being sung) and the bands had the right gear to put on a decent show in regards to sound. I think there was a smoke machine in one or two of them as well.
You can play a gig in your lounge room that can sound awesome if you hire the right gear. Relying on a Youth Centre to supply a PA (of which it will obviously never be high quality) isn't a good idea. Spend the money on a good PA if that's what you're after. It's fairly easy to hire one for an amount that's small enough to pay back with the money you get from the door.
