Who are your favourite Canberra Musicians? I'm talking on their own, not as a band or how they work as part of a group. I'm just talking specific players in bands who stand out. And mainly talking about technical skill, not just stage prescence.
I gotta admit to worshipping the bass skills of Will from Monster Elephante and Bainbridge from Astrochem. Those guys never cease to amaze me with their musical skills. Their bands rock too, but they always stand out to me.
Who stands out to you? Any guitarists that you're always itching to hear their mind blowing solos? Any vocalists who's soaring falsetto's always get your balls tinglying? Any drumms who can double kick at the speed of light?

Marc Robertson. Enough said.
Front man from ex Barrel Of Monkeys, and does solo stuff these days. Fronting his band the guy was electric, solo captivating. One of the greatest pianists I have ever heard.

Tom and Will from Fistful (they'll always be Fistful to me)
They have an almost Flea/Frusciante thing onstage, but even more delicate, or something. Something really pretty. Plus they're both masters of their instruments.
Audoito and Chilli from Slovac (they'll always be Fistful to me)
Chilli's technically amazing, rarely stuffs up, when he does it's unnoticeable but for a grimace upon his face and just rapes his fills. When he's not in shred mode his simple beats are the funkiest I've heard. Audoito is just a menace onstage, and has a real different playing style and writing style which reflects his personality.
Jim from Pleased To Jive You
So much fun to jam with. He can write entire songs in a five minute jam, without even needing to change the structure or anything afterwards.
Hayden and James from Paqman
They know exactly what they're doing all the time, in regards to writing.
Negus
Tonnes big.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Jim, Jarrad and Morgan from Pleased to Jive You. There's no other three people I'd rather share a stage with.

Top 10! + 1!! TOP 11!! Too long? I don't give a fuck! You asked for it, Declan Shrubb! Drummers: Evan from Switch 3 I saw him at this jazz thing we went to with school. He blew my mind so unbelievably. My eyes were on him constantly and he was having so much fun while he was doing it. Real inspiring stuff. I looked up some Switch 3 stuff after I found out he drummed for them. Nothing as special there which is why I wanna see them live. Get a real feel for it. Joe from Elephante For one thing, he has awesome glasses. For another, he's left handed. For another, have you seen him?! His hi-hat crunches and ghost notes are some of the best I've heard. And he brings crazy energy and intensity to every Elephante performance. Genius! Probably tonnes of metal guys that I don't know about! Bass-man! Will from Elephante Get some headphones, chuck on People of the 5th Dimension, sit/lie/stand/swim and focus on nothing but the bass for the whole album. He melds perfectly with the drums and is the ultimate rhythm sectionist. Then he adds so much to the melody and creates so much love time for me. He knows when to step up and knows when to step back. That's really important and he's the king of it. Chris from Astrochem Will's apprentice. There's this bass line in some Astrochem song, I think the Funkadelic Samurai one. Whatever the shit it's called! It's just three notes. But they're the most perfectly placed three notes in Canberra music history. So simple, yet so ... Then in their new Vampire song, Bainbridge goes crazy. Plus, he's the most modest guy I've ever met in my life. Makes a good musician (or anything really) that much better when they're not a douche. Just wait till Bainbridge starts getting the physical energy up to his musical energy's standards. Then there'll be chaos! Guitarists: Audoito from Slovac The purest musician I know. If he were to look through this forum and find all the bickering about promotion and all that shit, I'm sure he'd think "Whoa. Who cares. The reason I play at gigs is to play music... Simple as that." The politics, promotion and whatever else comes into it (besides music) are irrelevant to him. Watching him onstage, he's the only completely natural performer I've ever seen (besides Omar from At the Drive-In era). Nothing he does is forced. He doesn't think "Wow! If I play this solo behind my head, I'll be the coolest!". He does as he feels. Musically, I respect him more than anyone else I know and it's a real pleasure being able to play with him. Declan and Morgan from Jive You (This isn't some "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine " kinda thing. It's my honest opinion. Never doubt me!) Both of them are extraordinary guitarists. Morgan has an unmatched command of rhythm and crazy creativity. Declan comes up with the catchiest shit ever and probably the only guitarist in Canberra who really dazzles me with his solos (along with Tom from Elephante). But more importantly, the relationship between these two motherfuckers is what makes Jive You the most promising thing Canberra's ever gonna get. Their difference in writing styles and ideals pushes that band to new boundaries and is gonna keep on doing so until they reach whatever they wanna reach. Tom from Elephante Pure. Genius! Piano Matt P from Jive You One time, he played me some shit and it was so emotional, pure and technically amazing. It was intensely awesome, man! I think it might've been the Crash Bandicoot theme song. Oh wait. Yeah, that's it. We were just playing Crash Bandicoot. We "Game Over"ed so we were both crying. (But seriously, technically the best musician I know. And tonnes passionate.) Singers Josh from Elephante He's the most charismatic frontman I've ever seen. He draws me right in every time. His rapping is so intense and his singing is so chill. It's the perfect combo. Morgan from Jive You He's probably renowned for being a better guitarist than singer, but I dunno, man! He's fucking good. I love watching people improve at stuff. He's improved and is gonna keep improving. Believe me! Vocals are always very catchy and the lyrics or voice or both add a vulnerability to the music that I find real engaging. Other Digby HAVE YOU GUYS HEARD "CUT IT OUT"?! THAT SHIT IS OFF CHAIN!

I tonnes agree with this, whole heartedly in fact, Chilli is as solid as a rock in Slovac! He's got some killer feel as well, and that's the thing that speaks most to me when I listen to drummers, Like Brad Wilk form Rage and the drummer from Limp Bizket, John Densmore from the Doors and mother fucking John Bonham form ZEP!

Oh yeah and I agree with every thing Chilli mentioned above( except for the last guy mentioned hes a total shit cunt!), All those muso's stand the fuck out live and in the studio!
But I'm going to add to this list a little 1. Leigh Miller (ANU) This guy is a fucking nuts bass player! He's got crazy feel and is so solid, every thing I love in a bass player! And fuck me does he have some technical skill! You should see him play the chicken, Its a Jaco Pastorius song and he absolutely destroyed it, I was blown away!
I saw him for the first time at the ANU open day when he was doing a demo performance with the School of Music large Ensemble jazz band . They were playing all this crazy stuff that I loved, Like tower of Power, Earth Wind and Fire etc. Even though I walked in half way through the set and didn't know any body in the band I was like "Holy shit this bass player is amazing, I hope I can see this band again!", and I fucking did!
He just kept popping up in all these random places, like when our music teacher asked that smae large Ensemble band to come in to Erindale and play and then when I saw him again when I went to see the Canberra pops orchestra, shredding double and electric bass that sick freak!
2. Matt Popp(Slovac singer) He has so much power live, even through shit PA's I can still understand every word he says, and he never has shit nights, always consistantly having great pitch and delivery, even when hes up in the high registers!
3. Henry Cooper(Astrochem Singer) NO ONE ROCKS A CROWD LIKE HENRY! FUCKING NO ONE! He creates such an intense and imtamte atmosphere, I'm totally sucked into another world every time I see ASTROCHEM!
He has some awesome pitch and shit too!

Leigh Miller (ANU). Totally agree Digz. Best bassist I've seen in a long time.
Julian (Los Caps)
Julian (Cas P)
All of the boys from PTJY. Yeah, as a collective, they're awesome. But I'm saying this because they're all amazing musicians.
Bainbridge (Astrochem)
Danny and Shane (AYF)
Tennant (Escape Syndrome)
Danny (ex-Archers of EyeS)
Matt P (Erindale)
Teddy Conrick (I've cried over his guitar playing)
Negus, I know he's mine. But wow!
Alice, same goes.
Mikey (ex Ship to Shore/Beneath Still Waters/and whatever the fuck else)
James Luke (bass)
Nathan (Gasma)
Dave Shivelle (drums)
And others I can't think of.
